Vulci was the principal coastal city of Etruria trading with Greece, Egypt, Carthage and the whole of the Mediterranean and beyond - nothing of Vulci now remains except some picturesque ruins, impressive tombs and the high bridge above the river Fiora. The river Fiora flows through a deep chasm before tumbling over a precipitous cascade into Lake Pellicone - a favourite picnic and swimming spot of ours. |

The river flows over black basalt rocks making the waterfall delightfully warm - this group of students from Miami University are enjoying a dip. |
